Character | Description | WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE? |
---|---|---|
Young, Middle, Teen Anna | Young Anna, Middle Anna, and Teen Anna are all the young Princess of Arendelle at different ages. Filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love, Anna is a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages, but as she grows older, she longs for connection with others, especially her sister, Elsa. Each version of this warm and determined princess requires a strong singer with great comedic timing. Tip: We are looking for actors who can bring lots of bubbly energy to the audition. You will shine if you are able to enjoy yourself and have lots of fun in the process. Actors will join the Snow Chorus after they finish their role. | |
Anna | As above, Anna is filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love, a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages. The older version of Anna shows her more vulnerable side as she tries to connect with others. Tip: Actors who are auditioning for Anna need to be able to do everything that the younger Annas can do, but also be willing to show her more mature emotions. Her frustration and sadness for her sister, and her determination to make things right. Memorise your lines and really put yourself in the shoes of the character. If you receive a call-back for this role, you may have to sing "Love is an Open Door" | |
Young, Middle, Teen Elsa | Young Elsa, Middle Elsa, and Elsa are all the elder Princesses of Arendelle at different ages. Next in line for the throne, Elsa has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Tip: We are looking for actors who can showcase Elsa’s careful nature in an physically expressive manner. Actors will join the Snow Chorus after they finish their role. | Script |
Elsa | Due to her powers, Elsa becomes fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna. The older Elsa is a little more anxious and withdrawn, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers which she masterfully uses to manipulate the Snow Chorus. Tip: We are looking for actors with strong singing voices who are able to show both Elsa’s worried and confident sides as she matures. Memorise your lines and really put yourself in the shoes of the character. The audition song for this role is "Do You Want to Build a Snowman". If you receive a call-back for this role, you may have to sing "Let it go" | |
King Agnarr | The warm-hearted ruler of Arendelle is committed to protecting both his family and the Townspeople from his eldest daughter's powers. With only one singing solo, we are looking for an actor who can play this stern but caring father figure convincingly. | |
Queen Iduna | The queen possesses a sense of rightness and kindness that guides her in her protection of her two young girls. A daughter of the Northern Nomads, this queen has the ability to communicate with the Hidden Folk of the mountains and so understands Elsa's powers deeply; we are looking for an actor who can portray this sense of compassion. | |
Pabbie Bulda Tiffin | Pabbie, Bulda and Tiffin are the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who have a soft spot for "strays." Ever-kind, these parental figures want what's best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts. We are looking for friendly, slightly goofy performers who can make a fun connection with the audience. | |
Magistrate | The magistrate officiates the coronation and passing of the crown to Elsa. This supervisor must communicate to the Townspeople of Arendelle in a serious and formal manner. | |
Kristoff | Kristoff is a hardworking ice harvester. Kristoff can be a little sarcastic and a little rough-around-the-edges but it all hides a big heart. Taken in by the Hidden Folk when he was young, he loves Pabbie, Bulda and Tiffin dearly, but is a bit of a loner with a reindeer for a best friend- until he meets Anna. With only a few short singing solos, we are looking for a performer who can balance a cynical sense of humor with charming banter. | |
Sven | Sven is a reindeer of few words, a fiercely loyal pal to Kristoff, and loves giving the ice harvester a hard time. We are looking for a performer with good comic timing and terrific physical acting skills who says a lot with their movements. | |
Hans | The ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. Hans constantly strives to find a way to make good and stand out. He boasts an exceedingly charming facade that fools everyone - including Anna and, ideally, the audience! - into believing he's Prince Charming, when really, he's just a jerk. We are looking for an actor who can play both sides of this two-faced prince with relish as well as try to sing the moments of harmony in "Love Is an Open Door." | |
Weselton | A visiting duke who has a bit of a fear of missing out. A bombastic, overbearing personality, Weselton's sole purpose is to get on the good side of influencers and royalty. We are looking for an actor who can act with over-the-top gusto. | |
Olaf | The magical snowman created by Anna and Elsa when they were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything - especially the idea of summer. Goofy and sweet, Olaf should possess a childlike innocence and excellent comic timing. | |
Oaken | An exceedingly cheerful and friendly wandering salesperson and ardent devotee to all things cozy and comfortable. | |
Snow Chorus | The Snow Chorus are the embodiment of Elsa’s ice powers. They are committed actors who either have strong dance or singing skills. They may also sing some of the harmonies for other songs. If you are a keen mover, passionate dancer or have a great love of singing you may want to try out for the Snow Chorus. | |
Supporting Roles | Members of the Castle Staff and Townspeople who have extra responsibility and speaking roles. These characters have fewer lines but are often involved in big climactic songs and moments so they are a great opportunity for growing actors. | and/or |
