Synopsis:
Oliver! tells the story of a young orphan, Oliver Twist, who grows up in a grim English workhouse. After daring to ask for more food, he is sold to an undertaker but soon escapes and makes his way to London. There, he meets the Artful Dodger, a street-smart boy who introduces him to Fagin, a sly old man who runs a gang of child pickpockets.
As Oliver is drawn into their world, he’s unknowingly caught between good and evil forces. While Fagin and the dangerous Bill Sikes want to use him for their own gain, kind-hearted Nancy—Bill’s partner—sees the innocence in Oliver and tries to protect him.
When Oliver is arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, he is taken in by the gentle Mr. Brownlow, who suspects there is more to Oliver’s past. But danger follows Oliver, and Nancy risks everything to help him escape the clutches of Bill and Fagin.
Filled with memorable songs like “Consider Yourself,” “Food, Glorious Food,” “As Long as He Needs Me,” and “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two,” Oliver! is a powerful tale of hope, family, and the enduring fight for a better life.
