Audition Material for The Addams Family: School Edition

If you wish to audition for a MULTI ROLE or PRINCIPAL role you must learn one of the (below) small sections of the script:

If you are unsure what role you would like to audition for then please learn the lines from Grandma.

Audition Material for The Addams Family: School Edition

Section 1: Morticia's Lines: To be delivered with sadness but a sense of power:

Section 2: Gomez's Lines: You are the story teller. You are speaking directly to the audience. You are being funny and you know it.

Section 3: Wednesday: Wednesday is often portrayed as a stereotype (someone dry and emotionless). Here we see her true/real emotions. That is what what we want to see. The humour of Wednesday and the wit of Wednesday.

*Note: We will read in the Lucas parts for you.

Section 4: Fester's Lines: Fester is in love with the Moon. You must speak as if speaking to your true love. The audience will laugh whilst you deliver the lines but you must remain within the character.

Note: Fester could be an Uncle or an Aunty. Change the sex of the 'Moon' to suit.

Section 5: Grandma's Lines: Grandma is wise. She is also very funny. She is able to speak directly to the audience as well.

Section 6: Alice's Lines: Alice's lines should be said in a sweet (an almost too sweet) fashion:

Section 7: Mal and Alice's Lines (second set of lines):  We should sense Mal's confusion and see the change in Alice!

Section 8: Pugsley's Lines:  You need to show you are scared about 'losing' Wednesday from your life!

VOCAL AUDITION – If you wish to audition for a MULTI ROLE or PRINCIPAL role you must learn one of the songs below and individually sing with backing track provided. The song options from which you may select your audition excerpt are listed below.  The lyrics to be sung are in bold and underlined.  There is a vocal track which may help when learning the section and a backing track (no vocals) to practice with in preparation for the audition

Song Options:

PULLED (Wednesday)

String quartets and chia pets

And afternoon banana splits

Angels watching as I sleep

And Liberace's greatest hits

Have got me pulled in a new direction

If they keep insisting, I'll stop resisting

Just watch me pulled in a new direction

I should stay in the dark

Not obey every spark

But the boy has a bite

Better far than his bark

And you bet I'll bite too

Do what's truly taboo

As I'm pulled in a new direction

Pulled (With Vocals)

Pulled (Without Vocals)

WHEN YOU'RE AN ADDAMS (Gomez)

celebrate what is to be an

Addams.

When you're an Addams

You need to have a little moonlight

When you're an Addams

You need to feel a little chill

You have to see the world in shades of gray

You have to put some poison in your day

When you're an Addams

You need to have a sense of humor

When you're an Addams

Morticia:

You need to have a taste for death

Who cares about the world outside

And what it wants from you

When you're and Addams

You do what Addams always do!

When You're An Addams (With Vocals)

When You're An Addams (Without Vocals)

Just Around The Corner (Morticia)

Female Ancestor:

Perhaps a bad mosquito bite.

Male Ancestor:

A title fight.

Female Ancestors:

An unlucky flight.

Morticia:

My darlings, it might even be tonight.

Death is just around the corner

no one's ever been immune.

Turning off a respirator

with a simple click

strenuously quick.

I can face a new tomorrow

if I make it past today.

I feel good saying

death is just around the corner

simply on its way.

CRAZIER THAN YOU (General)

Place it in the bow and steady

Can't you shoot that thing already

I wanna demonstrate that fear is my ideal

(Girl believe me fear is your ideal)

Cause in the moment that you're frightened life is real

(Then my life must be real real)

And in a flash when I release and seal the deal

I'm crazier than you

I'm crazier than you

And nothing hurts me when I hear you say

I'm crazier than you

Psychotically in tune

And that is all I need to face the day

I'm crazier than you

I'm crazier than you

And live or die I'll let you have control

I'm crazier than you

So say you love me too

From here on in you're singing to my soul

My soul

CRAZIER THAN YOU (WITH VOCALS)

CRAZIER THAN YOU (WITH FEMALE VOCALS ONLY)

CRAZIER THAN YOU (WITH MALE VOCALS ONLY)

CRAZIER THAN YOU (WITHOUT VOCALS)

What If (Pugsley)

What if she never tortures me anymore?

How would I manage?

What if she never nails my tongue to the bathroom floor?

What if she walks away, Leaving me A-OK

Hiding each power tool

why would she be so cruel

I could stab my arm myself

Could rip my tonsils out

could set my hair aflame

I could spray my eyes with mace

But face the fact, without her, it wouldn't be the same

What If

Waiting (Alice)

Alone and

Waiting and wailing and whining and waning,

And wanting and wasting and Whoa -

Waiting, fixating, debating, lose weighting, ice skating, lactating, and so -

We wait to laugh, we wait to cry,

We wait for every hopefulbreath

Waiting for a lousy, rotting, vicious, rancid, flushed down, fetid, frenzied, fatal.....

Death!

Waiting

Move Towards The Darkness (Lurch)

Move toward the darkness

Welcome the unknown

Face your blackest demons

find your bleakest bone

Lose your inhibitions

Love what once was vile

Move towards the darkness

And smile.

Move Towards The Darkness

The Moon and Me (Fester)

When the daylight ends

And the moon ascends

I would rather be

Just the moon and me

When I feel her pull

Then my heart is full

And the night is softly sweetly calling

"Fester, look and see"

La La La La La La

La La La La

La La La La La

It's a dream that's coming true

When the moon says "I love you"

The Moon and Me
