Q: What is Bru-HIMS?

A: Bru-HIMS (Brunei Darussalam Healthcare Information and Management System) is a system that integrates the management of patient information management in both the medical and health services. The system is to replace the manual patients' medical record system which stores comprehensive patient information and medical history to provide a more effective medical service for the population of Brunei. This system aims to pull together a patient's information and medical history under one file, 'One Patient, One Record'.

Q: Why is the public required to register with Bru-HIMS?

A: With the registration of the public into BruHIMS, all medical information will be stored in a more systematic manner and will improve the quality of services provided by doctors, specialists and nurses. When the integration of Bru-HIMS is completed, it is hoped to:

i) Save the patient's time when visiting hospitals or health centres.

ii) Make it easier for patients when dealing with hospitals or health centres.

iii) Obtain patient's medical history and test results easily and quickly by the doctor, nurse or other Allied Health Professional.

Q: How do you register for Bru-HIMS?

A: The public can register with Bru-HIMS by:

i) Personally visiting any Bru-HIMS registration counter in any government hospitals or health centres by bringing along their identification card or a copy of it.

ii) Download and fill in the Bru-HIMS registration form from the Ministry of Health's website (https://www.moh.gov.bn/SitePages/Bru-HIMS%20Register.aspx) and hand it in to any Bru-HIMS registration counter in any government hospitals or health centres along with their identification card or a copy of it.

Q: What is a BN Number?

A: A BN Number is a reference number used by Bru-HIMS. This number will be used by the Ministry of Health to identify patient's medical records.

Q: When and how do we obtain our BN Number?

A: After registering with Bru-HIMS, patients can retrieve their BN Number and Medical Card at any registration counter in the nearest government hospital.

The public will also be able to retrieve 'or verify their BN Number through the Bru-HIMS app. To do this, simply use the Retrive BN' function in the Bru-HIMS application on the smartphone.

The public can also contact 2380031 during office hours or 8222991 outside office hours or via e-mail at bru-hims@moh.gov.bn to find out about the progress of their registration.

Q: Where do we send the completed Bru-HIMS registration form?

A: Completed Bru-HIMS forms, together with a copy of the identification card can be handed to any registration counter at the nearest hospital or health centre.

Q: Are foreigners required to register with Bru-HIMS?

A: Patients are required to register themselves with Bru-HIMS before consulting a doctor or being treated. Having said that, it includes foreigners who are seeking for medical attention in any government hospital or health centre in Brunei.

Q: Do we need to register ourselves in every clinic or hospital?

A: Registration with Bru-HIMS only needs to be done once.
