Moby was born in Harlem, New York in 1965. He came to prominence in the late 1980's writing electronic dance music for the rave and club scenes. The song Drop a Beat is a good example of music in this techno style.

Moby also composes music for films for which he uses his real name, Richard Melville Hall. Moby is his stage name. Among the films he has written scores for are Heat (1995, starring Robert de Nero) and Beach (2000, starring Leonardo Di Caprio).

Moby's first hit was Go in 1991. It uses a sample of Laura's Theme from the Hit TV show, Twin Peaks.

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad is the fourth track from the Album “Play” by Moby. The track reached no. 16 in the UK charts while the album reached no.1. It was released in 1999. Why Does My Heart is an example of Down Tempo (or Ambient) Techno.
