I was told that on the latest Rocky movie that Sylvester Stallone was at the session and asked if anyone could play a solo like Maynard did.

Waynard Bergeron was on the session and of course everyone pointed to him.

I haven't seen the movie (just couldn't bear anymore after Rocky 3), but supposedly it's a pretty amazing solo.

To add some great trumpet playing on TV shows that are probably available on DVD, ya gotta get The Twilight Zone "Portrait of a Trumpet," one of the episodes that Jack Klugman starred in. That's Uan Rasey doing ALL the trumpet solos, and it's an amazing example of contrasting styles. Truly beautiful playing. Yo, Uan!!

Also Uan on "The Dudley Dooright" theme and and a Munsters episode "Eddie Plays the Trumpet."

Ramon Flores on the sitcom "The Single Guy"

Jon Lewis on "J.A.G" & the "Star Trek" spinoffs.

Malcolm on "The West Wing," "Deep Space Nine," "Highway to Heaven," "Dr. Quinn"

Doc on the original theme to "Designing Women"

Graham Young on "The Waltons"

Bob DiVall on "Dynasty"

Tony Terran on the smokin' piccolo trumpet solo on "The Magician."

YouTube is rife with clips from Harry James' movies. My fav is the Jerry Lewis' flick "The Ladies Man" with Harry & the band playing "Ponytail."
